Multi-State Chicken Egg Recall

On April 13, 2018, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a multiple-state chicken egg recall.  Rose Acre Farms (based in Seymour, Indiana) initiated a voluntary recall of over 206 million chicken eggs because they may contain Salmonella Braenderup.  This strain of Salmonella has the potential of causing fatal infections in children, elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems.  The source of these recalled eggs is from their Hyde County, North Carolina farm.

The voluntary recall was the result of multiple illnesses reported on the East Coast of the U.S. and further investigation by the FDA.  The sourced farm produces over 2 million eggs per day and has a USDA inspector on-site daily.

Salmonella infection symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Contact a physician immediately if you or someone you know experiences these symptoms after consuming eggs.

Potentially Salmonella-infected Eggs were Distributed to Stores in the Following States

North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Affected brands include the following

Country Daybreak, Food Lion, Loose, Nelms, Waffle House, Crystal Farms, Country Daybreak, Coburn Farms, Glenview and Great Value.
