Did You Know there are Fast Food Secret Menus?

by | Jan 27, 2016 | Food Chain

I have a handful of friends who are chefs at fine dining restaurants; well-known destination restaurants.  Unexpectedly, their diets are less healthy than the average foodie would believe.  These friends of mine like to customize frozen cheese pizzas, enjoy nice cold PBRs at the local dive bar, and if they’re on the road, they’ll order a big ole ‘4×4’ with ‘Animal-style’ fries from In-n-Out Burger.  One of these chef friends told me a few years back that if you’re ever on a road trip, it’s important to know your fast food secret menus.  At the time, I was dumbfounded at the comment.  I didn’t know of any secret menu items.

Do you know all these Secret menus?  It’s time you do.

Why do my chef friends eat this stuff?

Three reasons…

  • Most of my chef friends are young(ish) with high metabolism.
  • Their work is actually physically hard work.  They reach, squat and walk on their feet all day long.  A couple of friends of mine are chefs; and I’ve met up with them right after a shift a few times.  They’re exhausted after work.  I’d guess people in this field have the ability to burn 3,000 to 4,000 calories a day.
  • They do eat the food they serve.  But no matter how good the food is at their restaurant, they do get burned out on the same ingredients.  And as we all know, fast food is tasty.

So, next time you’re out with a professional chef or cook, impress them with your ‘Secret Menu’ knowledge.  They probably already know most of the secrets out there – it is their business to know.
